Simple Veg Burger: A crispy patty and soft bun for the perfect home snack
Ingredients ***
The Patty (Fresh & Crispy) | The Assembly (The Bun) |
Potatoes: 3 medium (boiled and mashed) | Burger Buns: 2 pieces |
Green Peas: 1/4 cup (boiled) | Mayonnaise or Ketchup: 2 tablespoons |
Bread Crumbs: 1/2 cup (for the crunch) | Onion & Tomato: Sliced into rounds |
Ginger-Garlic Paste: 1 teaspoon | Lettuce or Cabbage: 2 leaves |
Oil: For shallow frying | Butter: 1 tablespoon |
Step 1: The Pop (Flavoring the Patty)
We start by making the filling for the potato patty.
- Heat 1 teaspoon of oil in a small pan.
- Add the ginger-garlic paste and your boiled peas.
- What to look for: Stir for 1 minute. Now add a pinch of salt and red chilli powder. Mash the peas slightly with your spoon so they stick to the potatoes later.
Step 2: The Base (Building the Patty)
This is the main “grain” part of your burger.
- In a bowl, mix the mashed potatoes with the cooked pea mixture.
- Add 2 tablespoons of bread crumbs into the mix (this keeps the patty firm).
- Shape the mixture into flat round “patties” the same size as your burger bun.
- Press the patties into the remaining bread crumbs so they are coated all over.
- The Griddle: Heat a flat pan with a little oil and fry the patties until both sides are dark golden brown and crispy.
Step 3: The Dust & Assembly (The Final Stack)
Now we put everything together for the big bite.
- Slice your burger buns in half. Put a little butter on a hot pan and toast the inside of the buns until they are warm and light brown.
- The Sauce: Spread Mayonnaise on the bottom bun and Ketchup on the top bun.
- The Stack: * Place a lettuce leaf or cabbage on the bottom.
- Put your hot, crispy Patty on top.
- Add a slice of onion and a slice of tomato.
- Sprinkle a little Black Pepper (The Dust) on the veggies.
- Cover with the top bun and press down gently.
